Accessibility Options to Feature Descriptive Audio of On-Screen Action
Warner Bros. Games today unveiled the gameplay launch trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, the latest installment in the acclaimed videogame franchise developed by award-winning NetherRealm Studios.
The new video features a first look story elements and gameplay for Shang Tsung and his ominous destiny in the reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by Fire God Liu Kang. The scheming sorcerer’s moveset is on full display, including his fireball projectiles, devastating combos, and signature ability to morph into rival kombatants. The trailer also showcases gameplay for General Shao’s second-in-command, Reiko, the savage warrior with a fighting style that matches his fierce persona, as well as bone-krushing highlights of other launch roster fighters.
Additionally, Mortal Kombat 1 will feature an extensive set of accessibility options for players, including audio descriptions and cues for on-screen action that plays contextually during gameplay. For the full list, click here.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be available beginning 14 Sept. via early access for Premium Edition owners and 19 Sept. for Standard Edition owners. All pre-orders will receive Shang Tsung as an in-game playable character.
Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest installment in the acclaimed Mortal Kombat videogame franchise developed by award-winning NetherRealm Studios and introduces a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe set in a new story with iconic heroes and villains reimagined as they’ve never been seen before. The game features a wide-ranging cast of legendary fighters with all-new backstories, including Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Smoke, Rain, Li Mei, Tanya, Baraka, Geras, Reptile, Ashrah, Havik, General Shao, Sindel, Nitara, and Reiko along with a separate roster of Kameo Fighters who can assist during matches.
Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) on 19 Sept. 2023. Playable fighters Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda, along with guest fighters Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and Homelander will be featured in the post-launch downloadable content (DLC) Kombat Pack, which is available now for pre-order as part of the Mortal Kombat 1Premium Edition and Kollector’s Edition.
